Piecing Call to Action

The BOLTCall to Action, News, Projects

A quilting friend in law enforcement is collecting BLUE Raspberry Kiss (RK) 12-1/2″ unfinished blocks to make up quillts, and gift to families of fallen police officers. The family (including 3 children) of NYPD PO Miosotis Familia who was murdered at work in the Bronx, NYC just days ago, will be the recipient of the first BLUE RK quilt.
💙 If you would like to make a block (or two or more!), please do so. We will be a drop-off for the blocks.

💙 The blocks themselves take little time to make. You can use heritage.threads‘ tutorial for a 12″ (finished) block using a range of blues for the “X”, and low to not-so-low volume background (inner and outer) fabrics.
💙 This picture shows you how the three different fabrics work in the block. Please choose two background fabrics that allow the X to pack a punch and make sure they are laid out like the picture above.
💙 About the blue X: a wide range of blues makes for a more interesting top so dig deep into your stash (whatever you have will likely work).

💙 Please deliver it trimmed (to 12.5″) and ready to be pieced into a top.
💙 If you’re on board, please feel free to share this call for blue blocks with your fellow quilters, and post your own #blueRKblocks on Instagram. Take a moment to scroll through this hashtag yourself as it’s quite inspiring.

💙 Blocks will stop being collected when they stop arriving. The summer is busy and this is more about having another quilt or two on hand and ready to gift as opposed to needing a finished one by a certain date.
💙 Thank you for reading this, and for supporting this call to action, should you decide to participate.
